As a freelance content writer, it’s likely you are getting caught up in the hustle and grind of constantly seeking out new clients and projects and meeting tight deadlines. Being a one-person show, this can quickly get overwhelming and take a toll on your mental health.

While I actively reject hustle culture, I also understand it is (sadly) the only way we can make a decent living in this fast-paced world.

But what if there was a way to reclaim some of that time and improve your mental health as a freelancer?

Why is everyone talking about ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a natural language processing tool that uses machine learning to generate high-quality content based on your prompts and guidelines. This means you can input your ideas, prompts, and queries and let ChatGPT do the rest, freeing up time for you to focus on other tasks or simply take a break and prioritize your well-being.

In my limited experience playing around with this incredible software, I have found it is capable of not just saving time but also helping me with ideation and perspectives I wouldn’t have considered before.

For example, when I am running short on ideas for blog posts for a client, I can just ask ChatGPT to help me out:

Within seconds, I’ve got my efficient assistant giving me some excellent post ideas that I can write and later repurpose for my client’s other social media platforms.

How to get started with using ChatGPT

  1. Research and compare different natural language processing tools to find the one that best fits your needs and budget. I like to use ChatGPT, but as time goes on, I will be providing more information and comparisons with other platforms.
  2. Set clear guidelines for your AI to follow, including the tone, style, and focus of your content. This will help ensure that the output is aligned with your brand and preferences.
  3. Use AI as a starting point, not as a replacement for your own craft! While places like ChatGPT can generate high-quality content, it’s always a good idea to review and edit the output to ensure that it meets your client’s style and standards.
  4. Make sure to set aside time for self-care and prioritize your mental health. Use the time that ChatGPT saves you to look away from the screen, cook yourself a meal, exercise, or meditate.

I know the rise of A.I is a major cause for concern for my fellow freelancers; however, I believe these tools are a blessing to those who have been grinding for years without a break.

ChatGPT is a powerful tool for freelance content writers looking to reclaim time for self-care and improve their mental health. You can finally focus on other tasks and prioritize your well-being, resulting in a healthier and more sustainable freelance career.

Ultimately, the happier you are, the happier your clients are!
